Microelectronics and photonics businesses based at EPIC have enjoyed considerable growth in 2021. The centre is now 70% occupied, housing some of the region’s most innovative companies. Tenants have taken on new staff, secured contracts (including lucrative clients in the space and defence markets) and won national awards. Growth is set to continue in 2022

The Strand, one of the best urban public spaces in the Bay is about to become a more vibrant, healthier and better-connected space. Using £2.2m of the £21.9m of funding secured through the Town Deal in the autumn of 2020, works to regenerate the Strand are set to begin during the early part of 2022.

Given the success in Torbay over the past two years, the Ready for Work programme has been extended for a further 12 months. Following a review, some changes have been made to the scope and delivery of the programme to ensure it meets the needs of employers, the labour market, and residents. Ready for Work

The first Torbay Supplier Engagement Conference will take place on 16 December 2021. The conference will be virtual and will welcome procurement leads from the local public sector. The event, in partnership with Torbay Council, South Devon College, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and TDA, will provide local Torbay businesses with the opportunity

Work has began to develop nine affordable rent homes including one adapted home at Totnes Road, Paignton.   This significant milestone demonstrates the commitment TorVista Homes has to increase the supply of affordable homes within Torbay. This will be the first new build project after TorVista was awarded Registered Provider status by the Regulator for Social
